A performance shop I researched is providing tuning configurations to run full E85, regular unleaded, and a blend of both. They are providing a hand-held to switch between the tunes depending on necessity. I believe E85 octane ratings range from 100-105. If you have a tuned car you need a minimum of 93 octane to get the full benefit, so adding a few gallons of E-85 to the 91 Octane will get you the needed 93. Here is a link to help you figure out what mixture you need to use.I would up your pulley size as well to get max gains and take advantage of the cooling properties and additional octane. I'd say they were both a safe, very street friendly tune. Both tunes were about 12 lbs boost (Roush TVS). Pump 93 tune made 568 HP. E85 tune + VMP 67 mm throttle body and elbow made 670 HP for a 102 HP gain. ETs went from 10.80s to 10.20s. Definitely an E85 fan. Your tuner may have been conservative on the ethanol tune. Also, whether the stock injectors are safe for e85 or not, you'd need significantly bigger ones and possibly a bigger pump as well to take advantage of it. Keith Tanner GRM+ Member and MegaDork. 5/27/20 9:41 p.m. Jun 25, 2020 · i have a subaru wrx that runs either e85 or premium. its an either-or thing. i dont run flex though there are kits out there now for subarus that include a flex sensor. to run e85, i had to go to larger injectors. the car is not a high pressure fuel inject system. if it had been the tuning would have been more complicated. i did the tune myself ... Adjusting AFR and timing further on subsequent pulls didn't gain anymore than the final numbers. Plus, even the stock 5.3 is factory rated what 30-35 hp/tq more on E85, with .5 less compression, 0.9L smaller displacement, smaller cam. So the gains for the 6.2 converting to E85 are not really surprising.
